Q: What is the age requirement for children?
A: Since children maturity levels and fitness capabilities vary greatly, the parents AND the assigned Ruck Leader must ensure before the event that the the child is emotionally mature enough to follow instructions from the adult(s) present, and physically fit enough to walk the distance of the route. Parents must be present during the event and participate with their child.
Q: Is registration free for police? Why?
A: Yes. During the CRT18, OEW will demonstrate to the Law Enforcement community solutions that have proven effective for preventing suicide among veterans. Further, a free event is simply a gesture of friendship from the vets to cops. We request that police still register online for head-count purposes. Please use the discount code “ThankYouCops” when registering to make the event free. Police that prefer to pay, may still purchase a standard ticket (without using the discount code) online as well.
Q: Are corrections officers considered police, for the purpose of free registration?
A: Yes. CRT considers all badge holders in the judicial system eligible for free registration. Corrections officers, police officers, Sheriff deputies, federal agents. The LE population does not have sufficient services organizations (such as OEW) to handle the needs of their injured personnel. Therefore we are trying to reach as many as possible.
Q: Are firefighter and military free.
A: No. Ideally we could offer free events for all public servants, but the fact is this Tour has associated expenses. Additionally, this Tour is a mechanism to raise money to fund other OEW programs. Having said that, we have never turned someone away because they could not pay registration. On a case by case basis, the Ruck Leader may approve requests from Soldiers and Firefighters for free participation.
